When will the 2026 Stolberger Schloss-Lauf take place?

The 2026 Stolberger Schloss-Lauf will take place on 29 August 2026. The start and finish lines are located right next to Stolberg Castle in the southern Harz region.

What routes are available for the Stolberger Schloss-Lauf?

At the Stolberger Schloss-Lauf, you can choose from a range of events: a 21 km half marathon, a 21 km relay race, a 10 km run, a 5 km run, a 5 km walk, a 2.2 km fun run and a children’s run. This means there’s a suitable distance for everyone, whether you’re an ambitious runner, a beginner, part of a team, a family or a child.

What are the road conditions like?

The routes of the Stolberger Schloss-Lauf take you through the unique setting of Stolberg in the Harz Mountains, past StolbergCastle, through the historic old town and across sections of the southern Harz.

Depending on the race, you can expect a varied mix of paved paths, road sections, cobbled passages and natural forest and farm tracks. Some sections of the route may be uneven and include ascents and descents.

Please therefore ensure you have a sure footing and choose suitable running shoes with good tread. Especially in wet weather, we recommend running the route with care and adjusting your pace to the ground conditions.

Will there be refreshments along the route and at the finish line?

Yes. There are refreshment stations along the race routes for participants. In addition, an ambulance service will be on site during the event to provide medical support.

In the courtyard of Stolberg Castle, there will also be food and drink available for runners, accompanying persons and visitors. This means you can refuel straight away in the finish area after the race and enjoy the atmosphere at the castle.

When do the individual competitions start?

Start times vary depending on the event: the Bambini Run starts at 10.30 am, the half marathon and 21 km relay race at 11:00 am, the 2.2 km fun run at 11:05 am, the 10 km run at 11:30 am, and the 5 km run and 5 km walk at 11:40 am. Please arrive in good time so that there is enough time for race packs, orientation and a warm-up.

Where do the runs start and finish?

Most of the races start and finish at Stolberg Castle. The Bambini Run takes place on the castle terrace at Stolberg.

How do I sign up?

Registration for the 2026 Stolberger Schloss-Lauf takes place online via the registration button on the website. Simply select your race and secure your place.

Will there be medals, certificates and an awards ceremony?

Yes – there are no losers at the Stolberger Schloss-Lauf: every participant receives a finisher’s medal and can print out a certificate online afterwards. The prize-giving ceremony, with trophies for the top finishers, will take place shortly after the races at Stolberg Castle. Your finish will also be filmed and can be viewed online afterwards using your race number.

The Bambini Run is not a competitive event, but of course no one goes away empty-handed: every child receives a finisher’s medal and a certificate as a memento of their run on the castle terrace.

How does the charity aspect work?

By taking part, you’ll automatically be supporting a local project: between €5 and €10 is already included in the entry fee.

Where and when can I collect my race pack?

You can collect your race number at the following times:

  • Friday, 28 August, 4.00 pm–8.00 pm: Sparkasse Mansfeld-Südharz, Markt 7, Stolberg
  • Saturday, 29 August, 9.30 am–11.30 am: Stolberg Castle

Where can I park for the Stolberger Schloss-Lauf?

Parking is available at the Thyragrotte, the railway station and in Kalten Tal, amongst other places. Please be aware of road closures on the day of the event and allow plenty of time for your journey.
