Patronage of the Stolberg Castle Run

Dear runners,

Ladies and gentlemen,

The Stolberg Castle Run is now being held for the eighth time and has thus become a cherished tradition. Under the motto ‘Running for a good cause’, runners from all over Germany come together to share sporting experiences. The focus is not solely on sporting challenges, however. Rather, it is about camaraderie, mutual exchange and social engagement.

In a setting rich in natural beauty and cultural charm, participants can put their skills to the test on a wide variety of running routes and get to know the southern Harz from a different perspective. That is why, as Minister for Sport for the State of Saxony-Anhalt, I was delighted to take on the patronage of the Stolberg Castle Run. I am particularly pleased that this sporting event is now known beyond the borders of the Harz region and is enjoying growing popularity. Here, the joy of sport is combined with a commitment to a good cause.

The organisers and their supporters deserve my respect and thanks for reaching out to so many people through this special sporting event, whilst at the same time supporting social projects. I would particularly like to thank the numerous volunteers, without whom this event could not take place.

I wish all the athletes plenty of stamina, an injury-free race, and hope that spectators lining the route have a lovely day in the southern Harz.

With warm regards

Dr Tamara Zieschang

Minister for the Interior and Sport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt
