Intergenerational event at the Stolberg Castle Run

On the move together, reaching the finish line together: In 2026, residents of the Stolberg Retirement Home would like to take part in the Stolberg Castle Run once again, alongside their nursing and care staff.

Some will cover the route on foot, whilst others will be in wheelchairs and accompanied by familiar staff members. It’s not about time or placing, but about enjoyment, participation and the shared experience.

The intergenerational walk shows that the Stolberg Castle Run is far more than just a sporting competition. It brings people together and creates shared experiences, regardless of age, pace or physical ability.

 

The residents of the Stolberg retirement home set off together with their nursing and care staff. Each team runs at its own pace. What matters is not who finishes first, but that everyone is part of this special day of running in Stolberg together.

The Stolberg Castle Run gets the whole region moving. From the youngest participants in the Bambini Run, through families, amateur athletes, clubs and companies, right up to the teams from the retirement home, the day of the event is an experience for all generations.

Frequently asked questions about the run

What are the road conditions like?

Part of the route follows unpaved/natural forest paths. Please ensure you have a sure footing and are wearing suitable footwear.

Will there be medals, certificates and an awards ceremony?

Yes – there are no losers at the Stolberg Castle Run: every participant receives a finisher’s medal and can print out a certificate online afterwards. The prize-giving ceremony, with trophies for the top finishers, will take place shortly after the races at Stolberg Castle. Your finish will also be filmed and can be viewed online afterwards using your race number.

The Bambini Run is not a competitive event, but of course no one goes away empty-handed: every child receives a finisher’s medal and a certificate as a memento of their run on the castle terrace.

How does the charity aspect work?

By taking part, you’ll automatically be supporting a regional project: 5 to 10 euros are already included in the entry fee.
